2026-27 Fulbright Scholar Award Recipients Announced

Four Twin Cities campus faculty have been awarded 2026-27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Awards to teach or conduct research in partnership with institutions abroad.

2026-27 Recipients

Edgar Arriaga, Department of Chemistry — Finland

Dr. Arriaga will promote cultural and academic exchanges between the U.S. and Finland, participate in teaching and education while visiting Aalto University, and explore the use of cellulose-based structures to prepare 3D cell cultures to investigate why humans age.

Dr. Carola Weil named Vice Provost for International Affairs

Dr. Carola Weil will serve as the University of Minnesota’s next vice provost for international affairs and senior international officer, effective August 24, 2026. Dr. Weil will lead the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance—the University’s central international office—and continue to advance the University as a global leader in international teaching, research, and outreach.

PSLSA Awardees Reflect on Leadership Journeys

This spring, the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities honored more than 70 students with the President's Student Leadership & Service Award (PSLSA) for exceptional leadership and service to the University and surrounding community. Winners were nominated by UMN students, staff, or faculty via an essay describing the student's extraordinary leadership and service as well as their impact on the University.
