International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is a leader in the University of Minnesota’s goal to be a top global learning environment. This position is a member of the ISSS Scholar Advising team. This position is responsible for coordinating the J visa scholar document needs for the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus and the system campuses. This includes serving as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), maintaining SEVIS records for Exchange Visitors, managing documents, advising exchange visitors, and communicating with University of Minnesota hosting departments. This position will serve as the lead coordinator for the J-1 Student-Intern program and will provide administrative support for employment-based visas (including H-1B, E-3, and TN). These programs facilitate the hiring and sponsorship of the University’s international scholars, faculty, and staff across the 5-campus University system.

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is a leader in the University of Minnesota’s goal to be a top global learning environment. International student and scholar advisors serve as experts in addressing the immigration and intercultural needs of the University’s international population. They provide culturally competent immigration advising to international students, faculty, staff, scholars, and their dependents.

This position is a member of the ISSS Scholar Advising team, with a small amount of time (approximately 20%) also dedicated to student advising. This position provides expert advice and support primarily to international faculty, staff, scholars, and their sponsoring departments across the 5-campus University system on matters related to employment and immigration regulations. This position may also provide immigration advising and support to international students at the U of MN Twin Cities campus.
