Research
Funding Opportuniities
The GPS Alliance administers and identifies internal and external funding to support a variety of global initiatives, including International Travel Grants and the faculty Fulbright program.
UMN Sustainable Development Goals Initiative
The UMN SDG Initiative seeks to support and promote transdisciplinary research, teaching, and partnerships to mobilize the resources at the University to advance a more socially and environmentally sustainable future in Minnesota, the U.S., and the globe through grants, information, and opportunities linked to SDG targets and indicators. The GPS Alliance developed this initiative, which is now part of the Office of Sustainability.

Hosting International Visitors
The guide to hosting international visitors provides resources for arranging a short visit of an international guest or delegation to the University of Minnesota.
Strategic Partnerships and Research Collaborative (SPARC)
The GPS Alliance helped launch the Strategic Partnerships and Research Collaborative (SPARC), a research and innovation hub based at the University of Minnesota in the Office of the Vice President for Research. SPARC provides a comprehensive supporting structure that allows partners from around the globe and faculty and staff from across the University system to build interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral programs for global impact. SPARC provides expertise and infrastructure to the greater UMN community, UMN faculty and staff, and our global network of partners to collide their ideas, leverage their collective global work, and foster large programs funded from traditional and nontraditional sources.
International Travel
The International Health, Safety, and Compliance team provides information and resources to help ensure all travelers are prepared and educated about safe and healthy travel abroad. Topics include the requirements around registering your travel and obtaining insurance, locations with advisories or sanctions/export controls, what to do in an emergency, and more.
The GPS Alliance operates the UMN Passport Office on the Twin Cities campus.
The Learning Abroad Center's Resident Fellows Program provides opportunities for undergraduate faculty from any UMN campus to spend 2 to 3 weeks at LAC program sites abroad. The cost of accommodation is covered by on-site partner organizations. Visiting faculty will offer guest lecture(s) either in a public forum or in a class, and will be expected to help promote study abroad and help increase study participation upon returning to Minnesota.

The GPS Alliance maintains the M Global website—the home for all things global at the University. It includes news and resources to support international research. See also country briefs highlighting connections and partnerships in selected countries where the University has deep, long-standing, or extensive relationships.
Teaching and Support for Students
Curriculum Internationalization
The Office of Curriculum Internationalization works with faculty, staff, and departments to design international, intercultural, and global learning experiences that prepare all students to address complex local and global challenges in a multiracial, multilingual, and multicultural world.
International Students and Scholars
International Student and Scholar Services maintains resources for departments, faculty, and staff to help support international students and scholars.
Learning Abroad
The Learning Abroad Center offers a variety of engagement opportunities for faculty and staff interested in supporting learning abroad.

ISSS Intercultural Workshop and Trainings
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) offers a variety of training options to help UMN colleges, departments, and staff work effectively with international students, scholars, and colleagues.
Considering China Webinar Series
The China Center developed the Considering China webinar series to explore important topics related to China's many facets and to encourage meaningful conversations and reflections.
Awards for Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alumni
The GPS Alliance administers several University-wide award competitions to honor the accomplishments and successes of its faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
