About one-third of college students in the U.S. have a mental health condition. Laura Dupont-Jarrett, the University of Minnesota’s assistant director for education abroad mental health, is helping faculty and staff support students facing mental health challenges during study abroad.

Nine faculty and instructors from across the University of Minnesota system will take part in the Fall 2023 Internationalizing Teaching and Learning Cohort Program, which helps participants integrate global, international, and intercultural learning into their course design and delivery.

The Kathryn A. Martin Library at the University of Minnesota Duluth has one of the largest Sámi collections in the world. Library Director Matt Rosendahl recently traveled to Sápmi, the traditional lands of the Sámi people, to visit cultural centers, museums, and libraries and meet with people working to preserve Sámi language and culture.

The all-University Award for Global Engagement is given to faculty and staff members in recognition of outstanding contributions to global education and international programs at the University or in their field or discipline.

Several UMN faculty and professionals have been selected as 2023-24 Fulbright U.S. Scholars. The program sends U.S. scholars and professionals to approximately 130 countries, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

Dr. Harvey Charles will serve as the University’s next vice provost for international programs and senior international officer, effective July 31, 2023.
