2023 Recipients of Award for Global Engagement

The all-University Award for Global Engagement is given to faculty and staff members in recognition of outstanding contributions to global education and international programs at the University or in their field or discipline. Recipients of the 2023 award are:

Tasoulla Hadjiyanni

Professor of Interior Design, College of Design

As a refugee from Cyprus, Dr. Hadjiyanni advocates for built environments where everyone can thrive, using her platform to decolonize interior design education and bring the stories of refugee and immigrant communities to the foreground of design education, scholarship, practice, and policy.

June Nobbe

Assistant Vice Provost for Student Life, Office for Student Affairs

Dr. Nobbe contributes significantly to global engagement through her inspirational vision, leadership, and mentorship. Over the last 30 years she has successfully woven intercultural and global learning into curricular, co-curricular, and institutional initiatives.

Jennifer Powers

Professor of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, and Plant and Microbial Biology; College of Biological Sciences

Dr. Powers is a world leader in tropical forest ecology who is dedicated to fostering international understanding and ensuring a respectful and collaborative approach to research and local engagement.
