Wang Feiman, who was born in 1897 in Shandong Province, came to the U.S. on a full provincial scholarship. She first enrolled at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and received a bachelor of science in chemistry in 1925. Wang then enrolled at the University of Minnesota and studied home economics. She received her second bachelor of science degree from the University in 1928. After receiving a master’s degree from Columbia University Teacher’s College in home economics, Wang returned to China and taught home economics at the Women’s Teacher’s College in Tianjin. Wang is considered one of the earliest Chinese female students at the University of Minnesota, and one of the earliest professors of home economics in Chinese universities.
