Li Yonglu (Lawrence Yonglu Li), born in 1911, graduated from Lingnan University in 1937. He came to the University of Minnesota in 1947 and received a master degree in agriculture in 1948.

After Li returned to China, he first served as an assistant professor at Lingnan Univeristy in Guangzhou, and later he became a professor at South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou till his retirement.

Li is regarded as a pioneer in Chinese diary science. He edited the book “Science of Cow Raising” which was used as an important textbook for animal husbandry and veterinary majors at many institutions of higher education.

In 1988, Li was rewarded the University of Minnesota’s Outstanding Achievement Award.
