First I would like to say that I am a proud Gopher! I attended the University of Minnesota from 2009 to 2014. The education I received at UMN was memorable. To this day, I still brag about the education I received at UMN. I have had many professors who are experts in their field. I can think of one professor especially, her name is Tara Fortune. She opened my eyes with the concept of “language immersion”. That was the moment I decided to not only become a Chinese language teacher but also an immersion teacher in the U.S. The teacher preparation program at UMN was excellent and packed with research-based learning.
During my years at UMN, I have also received phenomenal services from ISSS. The staffs were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I always know that I was in good hand when I had a question regarding with F-1 regulations. I especially remember the time I came in for a CPT question at ISSS, this one staff was very kind and explained everything I needed to know on CPT.
Recently I made a career change; I am now an International Student Services Coordinator at a college. One of the reasons why I want to work with international students is because of the great experience I have had with staffs at ISSS. ISSS is great!
