This spring, the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities honored more than 70 students with the President's Student Leadership & Service Award (PSLSA) for exceptional leadership and service to the University and surrounding community. 

With a commitment to being a safe space for its community, the University of Minnesota has dedicated staff and faculty who support international students and scholars in a variety of ways.

As ISSS’s director of student engagement, Marina connects students with the resources they need.

This year, ISSS hosted and collaborated on several homecoming events for our international community.

Marina Uehara was honored for her work as director for student engagement at International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).

The Mestenhauser Student Award honors the late Emeritus Professor Dr. Josef Mestenhauser, who dedicated his career to advocacy for and commitment to students.

Barbara Kappler, assistant vice provost of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), will be stepping down from her role in May. She has been a vital part of ISSS for more than 30 years, and a driving force for intercultural initiatives across campus.

Dina Manandhar, Adhora Madhuri, Oforiwaa Pee Agyei-Boakye, and Swapnil Puranik shared about their plans to use their University of Minnesota education to support their home communities.

The Students Crossing Borders living learning community brought together students from all over the world to live together, sharing their cultures and forming lifelong friendships. Alumni of the program recently gathered for a reunion weekend to celebrate 10 years since they met in Middlebrook Hall. 

At a two-day retreat, international student leaders led participants in discussions and exercises to enhance communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
