Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Anant Maringanti as Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC). He will start in the position later this spring.

Dr. Maringanti brings extensive experience in interdisciplinary research and urban intervention initiatives, and a strong commitment to social justice in the global south. It is especially meaningful that he is also a graduate of the University of Minnesota and an alumnus of the ICGC Scholars program.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Maringanti back to the University of Minnesota, and in expressing appreciation to the search committee for its excellent work, with special thanks to Professor Vinay Gidwani for serving as chair. I am grateful to everyone who took time to provide invaluable feedback on our outstanding finalist candidates. I’m appreciative that Dr. Karen Brown will stay on to assist with the transition, and we will honor her long history with ICGC this spring.
