Opportunities for Instructors at Other Institutions

Welcome! The Internationalizing the Curriculum and Campus (ICC) team is thrilled to offer professional development opportunities for instructors, faculty, and instructional staff from other institutions.

While our team facilitates the offerings, we value and draw upon the professional, experiential, disciplinary, collegiate, and the institutional diversity represented among participants. We welcome you into an already amazing community of practitioners who are all seeking to engage, leverage, and ultimately realize the potential benefits of our globally diverse classes and campuses.

Why choose the University of Minnesota?

For decades the University of Minnesota has been a leader in the field of international education. Many of our scholars, practitioners, and alumni have been founders and innovators in the field, including Josef Mestenhauser, Michael Paige, Milton Bennett, Mitch Hammer, Barbara Kappler, Gayle Woodruff, Michael Goh, Miki Horie, and many more.

The Internationalizing the Curriculum and Campus (ICC) team has been at the forefront of Internationalization at Home (I@H) efforts since 2008. Our expertise and experiences are directed toward supporting faculty and instructional staff who seek to enrich their course curricula and develop pedagogy to include and integrate our globally diverse communities of learners. We believe this contributes greatly to a broad range of global, international, and intercultural student learning outcomes.

Workshop Series: Teaching to Prepare Global Ready Graduates

Our team has developed packages of online workshops that introduce and model high-impact, evidence-based activities, strategies, approaches, and frameworks, with an emphasis on the concrete things instructors can DO in their classrooms!

  • Each package offers 10 total contact hours of content, with individual online workshops ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
  • Workshops are offered online in two-week concentrated blocks during August, January, and May. In addition, many of the shorter workshops are offered periodically throughout the academic year.
  • Upon completion of the workshops, participants will earn a digital badge for the chosen package.
  • Each 10-hour themed workshop package is $750 per person.

What are the benefits of registering for a full package? Can’t I just pick and choose what I want to take?

We created themed packages because the research is clear in that sustained opportunities for learning, sharing and conversation offers more effective learning and development as well as building and growing a valuable community of colleagues. Individual webinar registration is available, but registering for the package offers a financial savings and provides the opportunity to earn a badge upon completion.

What is the cost of an individual webinar or workshop?

We understand that there may be a lot of good reasons that some people can’t enroll in a full package, even if it does represent an overall financial savings. Our individual pricing is:

3-hour online workshop

$200/workshop

1-hour webinar

$100/webinar

30-minute webinar

$50/webinar

Can I request a customized group session(s) for colleagues at my institution?

Yes! If you have colleagues at your institution that you wish to organize for a group session, (i.e., department faculty/staff or colleagues in a faculty learning community/cohort), we are happy to work with you. Contact our team for more information.

Can I enroll in other ICC programs, such as the Certificate or Cohort programs?

The current structures of our Certificate and Cohort programs make it impossible for instructors from other institutions to participate; however, we are developing new professional development programs that would enable instructors to learn with us on our beautiful Twin Cities campus! Watch for more information to be announced soon!
