Teaching in Globally Diverse Classes

The Internationalizing the Curriculum and Campus team is offering a series of workshops and webinars in 2020-21 on "Teaching in Globally Diverse Classes." This series, intended for instructional faculty and staff, is aimed at promoting student engagement in globally diverse classes. There are two types of webinars available:

  • A 2-hour interactive online workshop entitled "Facilitating Intercultural Learning in Globally Diverse Classes." This workshop will be offered 4 times throughout the academic year. A 6-hour version of this webinar will be offered in June 2021. This is the same webinar offered multiple times, so please only register for one offering. Click here for more information about this webinar and to register.
  • A series of 30 minute webinars, "International Student Academic Integration Teaching Activities." These webinars introduce a curated portfolio of interactive teaching activities that can be utilized broadly across disciplines and courses to promote engagement between international and U.S. students in your classes. Each webinar will focus on a different teaching activity and ways to leverage it for both subject area and intercultural learning. We invite you to register for as many of these webinars as you would like. (These webinars are only open to participants from the University of Minnesota system.) Click here for more information about these webinars and to register.

Who should register: The primary audience for these workshops and webinars is faculty, instructors (including teaching assistants), and instructional staff who directly support teaching and learning. Those who are teaching or actively supporting the classroom experience this academic year will benefit the most, as we will be focusing on teaching practices and the ways that participants can apply these practices in their current teaching.
