Dr. Josef MestenhauserThe University of Minnesota hosted a Remembrance of Josef Mestenhauser on October 3, 2015, in the Cowles Auditorium and Atrium, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where more than 200 people joined in remembering the life and legacy of Dr. Mestenhauser.

  • Michael Paige, professor emeritus of international and intercultural education, University of Minnesota
  • Hanneke Teekens, executive director (retired), NUFFIC (The Netherlands organization for international cooperation in higher education)
  • Patricia Hampl, Regents Professor, English language and literature, University of Minnesota
  • Gayle Woodruff, director, curriculum and campus internationalization, University of Minnesota

The Remembrance of Josef Mestenhauser was held as part of a week of events organized to pay tribute to Dr. Mestenhauser. Other events included: International Education at the U of MN and Globally, a Tribute to Josef Mestenhauser's Legacy, organized by the College of Education and Human Development's Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development (OLPD); Conversation and Reception with Student Leaders in International Education, hosted by International Student and Scholar Services; and the 2015 Mestenhauser Lecture on Internationalizing Higher Education, organized by the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance with cosponsorship from the University of Minnesota's College of Education and Human Development and Carlson Global Institute, as well as the Minnesota International Center.
