International travel grants
Grants to fund travel for research or conferences or initial project phases.
Global Spotlight grants program
Faculty grants to promote a global network of scholarship and engagement and encourage interdisciplinary and transnational partnerships. During this biennium, the focus of the grants is on the Global Spotlight themes of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Impact of Urbanization.
Carol Pazandak Iceland-Minnesota Travel Fund
Funds available to all University of Iceland faculty and staff who propose a visit to the University of Minnesota for the purpose of consulting, visits, or research.
Alexander Dubcek Fund
Grants to support academic exchange between the University of Minnesota and the countries of Eastern Europe, especially the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Grants will support institutional linkages, individual faculty/staff research, visiting scholars, and student projects.
The GPS Alliance maintains a database of external international funding opportunities for research. These sources are mostly for research and do not include funding for study abroad programs or conference travel. The database contains no funding for undergraduate students.
Fulbright Scholar Awards for Faculty and Professionals
The GPS Alliance is the campus representative for the faculty Fulbright programs. Graduate students should contact the Graduate School for information on Fulbright awards.
Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad (USDE)
Fellowships to faculty who propose to conduct research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies to improve their skill in languages and their knowledge of the culture of the people of these countries.
International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX)
Research opportunities in Eastern Europe, newly independent states of the former Soviet Union, and Asia.
