Walter H. Judd Fellowships

2016 Judd Fellows Expo

The annual Judd Fellows Expo was held on Oct. 4, 2016, at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota's East Bank campus. Enthusiastic supporters attended the Expo to hear the 2016 Judd Fellows talk about their experiences abroad.

In addition, several Judd Fellow Alumni gave updates on their professional lives and how the Judd Fellowship has impact their careers—three of them via video as they are living all around the world. Nicole, a 2013 Judd Fellow who went to Bolivia, credits the Judd Fellowship experience with making the difference in getting her first job after graduate school with Catholic Relief Charities in Kenya.  She is now a program manager in South Sudan working with orphans and vulnerable children.

Meredith McQuaid, U of M Associate Vice President and Dean for International Programs, also paid tribute to Wheelock Whitney who passed away earlier this year. With his passing the Judd Fellowships lost a key founder and champion. Wheelock, who considered Walter Judd a trusted mentor, was the first and forever president of the Walter H. Judd Fund of The Minneapolis Foundation, which is one of the primary funding sources for the Judd Fellowships.
